Blog Post #3: Magazine Content Analysis

 Magazine Content Analysis

Hey guys! Today for my blog entry I'm going to talk about Billboard Magazine. I have covered Billboard Magazine multiple times in my blog, but in the post, I'm going to do an in-depth analysis on the factors that make it up.

This is a cover of Billboard Magazine that was issued on September 5th, 2015. The main focus on the cover is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, also known as, The Weekend. The reason he was on the cover is because he was the highest charting artist at the time of publication. Billboard's main target audience is young teens (around 16) to young adults (around 26) that listen to a wide genre of music. Some of the elements in the cover that are appealing to the target audience is how minimal it is and gets the point across. Some things I personally like about this cover is that the artist is in front of the name "Billboard" and that he is the main focus.

The table of contents also appears to reflect the magazine's purpose by showing other artists that shined in the time of publication. It includes the Feature stories, stories that include all the details and are very descriptive. It also includes "topline" stories, which are short stories to get the attention of target audiences.

This 2-page spread covers the main person that was on the main cover, in this case being the Weekend. The spread is set-up to show off the artist's personality through a page. This spread talks about The Weekend's reaction to all the attention he was getting and how he didn't expect to become well known. It includes pictures of him and the people and things that made him so famous.
