Image
Magazine Conventions Hey everyone! In today's magazine I'm going to talk about Magazine Conventions, which basically are components that make up the cover of a magazine. The example I'm going to be using today is an issue of Cosmopolitan, with the main focus being Jennie Kim from the K-pop group, BlackPink. Central Image & Cover Model: Jennie Kim, a member of the most well-known K-pop girl group BlackPink, is used as the cover model for this Cosmopolitan issue. Having Jennie has the cover model targets K-pop fans and other woman that love fashion. Masthead: The masthead, "Cosmopolitan" is covered by the cover model but you can still see the title. It is all in the same font and it is consistent with the other issues of the same magazine. It is also in Korean, for the people that buy this magazine in Korea.  Coverlines: In this issue, there are multiple coverlines, but they it is multiplied because they are also in Korean for Korean Readers.   Magazine Content Analysis Hey guys! Today for my blog entry I'm going to talk about Billboard Magazine. I have covered Billboard Magazine multiple times in my blog, but in the post, I'm going to do an in-depth analysis on the factors that make it up. This is a cover of Billboard Magazine that was issued on September 5th, 2015. The main focus on the cover is  Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, also known as, The Weekend. The reason he was on the cover is because he was the highest charting artist at the time of publication. Billboard's main target audience is young teens (around 16) to young adults (around 26) that listen to a wide genre of music. Some of the elements in the cover that are appealing to the target audience is how minimal it is and gets the point across. Some things I personally like about this cover is that the artist is in front of the name "Billboard" and that he is the main focus. The table of contents also appears to reflect the magazine's purpose by ...

The reason they are put into different categories is to differentiate from each other. There are many types of topics to cover and if you put it all together, it would be too chaotic.  Genre 1: International D-Icon Magazine is a magazine brand that features Korean Idols and get them recognition. This magazine includes collectibles like photo cards, posters, and much more. Each idol in a group gets their own issue and it's a race to collect each member in a group.  Genre 2: Music Billboard Magazine is one of the most influential music magazines that is in the Music Industry. Billboard Magazine includes internationally recognized songs by different artists and uses their magazines to advertise them to get them recognition.   Genre 3: Fashion Vogue  Magazine is the world's most viewed fashion magazine. They target young adult wom...

Speaking of, my portfolio must include the following: The  Cover The Table of Contents A 2-page  spread. Here are some examples of Magazines that I am familiar with:                                           I wasn't really into magazines until a couple of months ago as I started keeping up with  Billboard  Magazine. I am a music fanatic and love listening to different genres, predominantly Korean Pop. I also love looking at old fashion magazines because it gives me a sense of nostalgia and basing some of my fashion choices on those magazines. Some things I do like about magazines are that they can reach target audiences, are visually pleasing, and are great for advertising and exposure. Magazines are astonishing, but I'm not t...
